Fireside chat with Dimitris Lianoudakis, Founder&Principal LP Group Payments Consulting

Who is Dimitris Lianoudakis?

I am the product of the relationships I have built, the countries I have lived and worked in, and the people I have shared that time with. An entrepreneur and analyst at heart with a strong belief in repeating successful actions. I love winning, especially when I’m doing it with a great team and a killer product. That’s why I founded lpgrouppayments.com. An online merchant services boutique with a no-nonsense attitude about leveraging your data to increase your profit and help you scale your dream. I am also a coach and mentor to the #1 ranked Masters of Management Analytics program in Canada, and a Growth Mentor as part of the incredibly humble community that is GrowthMentor.com. Best part of all this is that I get to share it with my wife and two children.

What’s the story behind LP Group Payments Consulting?

LP Group is a company I founded during the pandemic. I had the idea exactly 1 year before but hesitated in making the jump. I am a big believer in karma and saw this as my second chance. LP Group specializes in helping both low and high-risk merchants maximize the revenue of their online store. Many founders, new and seasoned, spend the majority of their time working on the creative drivers of their business; mainly marketing and sales. During that time, their business is generating data (often w/o any intervention) that when used in the right way tells them a story. That’s where we come in. Having done this for almost 10 years, we utilize their data to help them discover action-driven insights from increasing their conversions, reducing customer churn and product pricing to name a few. We help them integrate a data-first mindset in their decision-making process with the numbers to back it up.

What was the most difficult part of your experience in the early beginnings?

I think I’m still finding myself in the “early beginnings” stage. The most challenging part was figuring out who my ideal customer is. I think for the first 3 months I must have changed my target market and customer at least 10 times. Once I found that profile and niche my priorities and goals started aligning.

What are you most proud of regarding your business?

Incremental progress. Things rarely go as planned but being able to know when to pivot and when to keep going has helped my business to keep moving forward.

What is your vision for the future of LP Group Payments Consulting?

We want to level the playing field between merchants and payment processing. The first step is democratizing the data that gives merchants the analytics and insights they need to quickly act on it without having to jump through hoops.

What’s your advice for the businesses that are trying to adapt to this economic climate?

To quote Master Yoda: “Do or do not. There is no try”. There is no one piece of advice that will work for everyone. Know what you are good at and connect with people who can help you fill in the rest.

Please name a few technologies which have the greatest impact on your business.

  • MIRO.com – The best cloud whiteboarding tool.
  • Notion.so – Documentation platform. I use this for all my client reports and is also great for making websites.
  • Metabase.com – Open source visual analytics tool for creating dashboards.

What books do you have on your nightstand?

  • Never Split the Difference – Chris Voss
  • Atomic Habits – James Clear
  • Zorba the Greek – Nikos Kazantzakis

Because of the current economic climate our publication has started a series of discussions with professional individuals meant to engage our readers with relevant companies and their representatives in order to discuss their involvement, what challenges they have had in the past and what they are looking forward to in the future.
